Hi Wiredducks -- I'm not sure I follow your logic. The getCache call at the top of the flle loads the cache. The cache file isn't built until the EOF though -- it should be the last thing that happens on the page. If you're having a loading issue it will never make it to the end of the page to build the file and thusly you won't be caching an error. To play it safe though you should make sure the page works before you cache it. While it does help on resources, for my own sanity, I do not have cache running while I'm still developing. Once the page is working and ready to published I switch the caching on and go from there. Is this helpful?

This scripting works very nicely, but what happens if theres and issue and the file you are caching isn't available? The script then caches an empty file and if you've set it to renew ever 6,12, 24 hours the page would be down for that long.

Be nice to have it make sure the page is loading before it caches it.

Just wanted to add my thanks to the list. Your detailed and unpatronising cocktail worked perfectly. Seems unbelievable this hasn't this been sorted in an Ubuntu update by now - I only upgraded 2 days ago.

Thank you very much for this guide on how to get past error. I followed guide exactly and it worked. When I rebooted it was nail biting but after some patience it booted up! I will be bookmarking this website. Thanks again:)

I have some issues with step 10 of your solution. I can't seem to be able to download (or ping) anything. I am on a wireless network, network-manager is running and ifconfig shows the wlan0 interface. Should the wi-fi be a problem?
